JULIE GICHURU vs THE LUO ONLINE COMMUNITY.

Over the last few days,Nothing has set social media on fire than the vicious online onslaught directed to the Queen of TV by the indefatigable Luo Online community.

And for a community that counts the fiery Robert Alai and the rambunctious Dikembe Disembe as one of their own,You can be assured of nothing but the most spectacular online bashing from that said community.

Everyone knows: You DO NOT MESS with the Luo community. Not when they gang up so viciously and attack You with such vitriol and tribal venom. It's an area You must steer clear of. Especially if You cannot grasp the Luo vernacular which comes in handy whenever they wish to attack You.

I have always admired my LUO Brethren for one thing; their sense of ONENESS and UNITY regarding any issue at any given time.

No Kenyan community is as good as marshalling their troops,either online or offline,to support Community-related causes like the LUO tribe. Its a community whose UNITY and unbreakable allegiance to its cause is unquestionable.
And that's impressive.

What's NOT IMPRESSIVE, however, is ganging up on a professional journalist and news anchor who, until now,has been regarded as the MOST POWERFUL Media Woman in Kenya. And among ths Most Powerful in Africa.

Unlike Caroline Mutoko,whose swashbuckling presentation style can be condescending and unapologetic,Julie Gichuru is simply one of the MOST controlled, demure,calm and accommodating media personalities we have seen in a long,long time.

She is the last lady to pick fights with any individual or group. And the last woman to expect to answer to Your vain online rantings.

Why is the LUO ONLINE COMMUNITY attacking Dame Julie Gichuru??

Well,Because she raised a very pertinent,if provocative, question; WHY ARE THE LUO LEADERS BUSY ENGAGING IN EMPTY REFERENDUM RHETORIC instead of addressing the Water scarcity situation for their own voters??

Good Question. Wrong medium of asking.

A very disturbing story was aired and publicized by Julie Gichuru. It emerged that,in a certain village in Nyanza County,the issue of Water scarcity is so huge that the Women in that community offer free unlimited sex to ANY man who offers travel almost 20 Kilometers away to bring her the water.

Its a village so water-strapped that You have to wake up at 3am on a cold,chilly morning to go fetch water many,many kilometres away. And by the time You get to the Watering hole,You realize that there are already close to 100 people in front of You in the queue. And You have to stand in line till 8am in the morning just to get a single 'mtungi' of water.

And to avoid waking up so early and risk getting raped along the way,these young women have turned to prostituting themselves to ANY man who can bring them water home.

You want sex?? Bring me a jerrycan if water. You want water?? Drop Your underwear. That's the rule in that sad,Luo village.

Nothing is as disturbing as that. Its simply sad,painful,shocking disgusting and unbelievable.

And yet its happening.

Now Julie Gichuru made a very serious observation; Instead of addressing the Sex for Water scandal in Luo Nyanza,their Leaders would rather run around town agitating for a referendum!!!

A very good question,If You ask me.

The rate of HIV/AIDS in that little village alone is ALARMING. Almost everyone is infected with the virus. But they still have unprotected sex,day after day,in exchange for a drop of a natural commodity called water!!!

Jesus!!

Immediately after Julie asked that Question, the LUO ONLINE COMMUNITY descended on her, tongs and hammer, nastily attacking her and hurling unprintable insults at her simply for being objective and concerned!

Seriously???

I mean,How will a REFERENDUM solve the Water for Sex crisis in Nyanza??

How will a referendum address the poverty situation in Nyanza? Or Kiambu or Bomet??

How will a referendum guard hapless women from having to sleep with HIV/AIDS-infected men just for a cup of water??

How will a referendum bring taps and boreholes closer to the people of Awasibvillage???

Tell Me ,HOW!!??!!?

The LUO ONLINE COMMUNITY comprises of some of the MOST educated,informed, progressive and critical people in Kenya. And instead of them joining hands with Julie in castigating their leaders for being so blind to such disturbing social and economic issues,they chose to join hands to ATTACK the messenger. And protect their own clueless bunch of leaders!!!

How sad!

Julie Gichuru is a Woman and a Mother. And I am sure she spoke as a Woman and Mother in pain.

Have we sank that low???

Must we GUARD and PROTECT these 'Leaders' so fiercely everytime they are challenged in Public??

Must everything be turned around into a TRIBAL warfare??

Must we swear so much blind.allegiance to these bunch of rascals called Leaders??

Even when EVERYTHING they do is to satisfy themselves and their families??

Instead of finding solutions to the sad plight of the Women of Awasi village,We have turned the attention to attacking a TV host who doesn't even read our comments??

Are we so blinded by these LEADERS??

God,We have a LONG WAY TO GO.

To the Women of Awasi village, Poleni sana.

No one is addressing Your cry. You have to wait until we have said enough "FUCK YOU's" to Julie Gichuru.

In the meantime,Keep exchanging Your bodies for a natural drop of Water.
