The fluctuation of hormones in the woman’s cycle may also affect the mood during menstruation. About 75% of women are affected by the depression during the menstruation period.

1. The lack of calcium can cause many negative menstrual symptoms. Calcium-regulating hormones fluctuate in a woman’s cycle and may decrease 10 days before menstruation causing depression.

2. Estrogen levels rising may also cause depression during menstruation as it will reduce the blood sugar. Depression can also occur due to high estrogen levels and decreased progesterone levels as it will drop the serotonin.

3. Most of the women react high to stress before their periods which can lead to fatigue as well as depression during the menstruation.

4. Depression during the menstruation can be reduced by taking increasing the calcium intake. Progesterone suppositories have also been helped to reduce the depression which occurs due to hormone fluctuations.
