The Sh3 billion Academy is funded by M-Pesa Foundation and is in a 50-acre land in Thika. Les Baillie, the Executive Director of the M-Pesa Foundation, says the academy will have state-of-the-art facilities and will have a practical hands-on approach in the teaching method.
Safaricom is strategic on impacting communities through innovative and social programs. As opposed to various scholarship programs like Equity Wings To Fly, M-Pesa Academy will seek to influence the students throughout their stay at the 8-4-4 based Academy.
Mr Collymore, however, told Business Daily they have not yet settled on how the selection will be carried out.
