Angeline Omwamba, the SUEU sec gen broke her silence when she posted her opinion concerning the damages fee. Here is what she said:
"Democracy! democracy ! democracy!... when will this word ever possess a
meaning? As many complain about the senate decision that was made about
the damages, I could like to inform all of us that no single student was
involved or invited to any senate seating involved in arriving at the
figure 5122 for each student. As far, as the matter was handled, the
decision was deemed to be beyond any SUEU Leader, I mean not even the
chairman under the assumption that all students (SUEU Leaders
inclusive) had been ordered to vacate the campus. Comrades, this
assumption is wrong because the school has accommodated SUEU Leaders as
leaders entrusted by the students’ body to represent students in the
university Councils, Senate seatings and disciplinary committees.
Secondly, most of the SUEU leaders have been in school as this seatings
proceeded in their absentia. Does it mean Student Leadership will never
make any sense to our administration? Even the information about the
final verdict was pulled from the University website this morning, I
mean no official communication…Friends, is this really fair? Where are
democratic rights??"
