Yes, Victor Wanyama pays Sh250,000 in rent!

So why do revelations of Victor Wanyama’s monthly rent bill of Sh250, 000 seem to perplex Kenyans? “I don’t think they know what he is worth, besides, that is not Umoja,” Shaffie Weru responds. Well, the debate arose after our Wednesday Facebook post confirming that the Kenyan Southampton FC export had his Sh8 million Range Rover SUV recovered after a Monday robbery at his Winchester, London residence. Only hours after the robbery, police confirmed having recovered the luxury ride that had been stolen alongside other household items.

Wanyama, the flashy larger-than-life baller who lives in a five-bedroom house whose monthly rent is Sh250,000, got a rude shock when he returned home from his team’s Monday fixture only to find his house turned upside down.

“Rent ya Sh250,000? Kwani anaishi Garden Estate, eish!” a fan exclaimed. “Haiya, kumbe huko kuna wezii. Wacha nikae Kenya yetu,” another charged.
