Egerton university's newly elected student union secretary general was hit with a stone on her head while celebrating her win on Friday evening.
"My main rival Caleb Kipleting's supporters started throwing stones and one of them came closer to where I was celebrating with my supporters and hit me intentionally," Angeline Omwamba, a 4th year engineering student claimed.
Omwamba garnered 3,081 votes beating Kipleting by 1,291.
She has since reported the matter to the university's security team and sought medical attention.
Kipleting said he is not sure Omwamba was attacked by one of his supporters.
Student elections turned violent have in the recent past also led to the destruction of property and the interruption of studies in several universities in the country.
