My girlfriend is due next month
She is heavy, laden with twins
Two little bounties of different sexes,
Ready to come out at cue,
Ready for a new view.
Congratulations are due
I don't know how ready we are.
Clothes, nappies, Pampers in plenty,
Rooms are ready,
Cots are steady.
Pets, dolls, toys of choice
Even those with weird irritating voices.
I don't know how ready I am,
To be called dad.
'Dad Tim poked my eye'
'No dad that's a lie '
'Liz stop making Tim cry!'
'Babe our account is running dry...'
I wonder how well I can cope
Singing to make them sleep tight...
Waking in the middle of the night
To quell their screams of nightmare fright
Then changing diapers into the morning light.
Bed time stories;
Creating images of Jack and the giant
Beanstalk!
Trying to explain why I can't fly like Superman
Or why Tom has never eaten Jerry!
And why has father Christmas never visited us?
'Daddy buy me Scooby Doo!'
I can only imagine those puppy eyes
Pleading for more Candy
The innocent look after farting
The never ending playing energy
Constant shrieks of excitement and disappointment
Dozing off while eating.
I wonder how the first sex talk will go
Which supermarket we bought them from
And Why the lady next door has a huge belly...
Teenagehood;
Riddimz vs rhumba
Biggie vs Tupac
Barley vs whiskey (wtf?!)
Soccer vs Soap opera
Maths vs Biology
Tim vs Liz
Mum vs Dad (smh).
I already love these truants
And as I listen to their kicking
I can't help but smile
And beam for a while.
We are now two
Soon we'll multiply by two.
My girlfriend is due next month
She is he heavy, laden with twins.
By writing this I just realized how much I love her.
For In a month's time I will be a father
And am ready for these midgets!
